a series of rooftop blankets, bbq, drinks, music and an abelton live workshop.

officially supported by the folks from Abelton Live, microlab was the first workshop for the program in all of China. folks from far and wide (well, Chengdu) flew in to join in the fun (and fun learning).

it all kind of went, like this:

On Sunday 23rd July we present for the first time a workshop to demonstrate the music software “Live” from the German specialists in music technology “Ableton”. The workshop begins at 2:30pm at the Lab. Ableton are officially supporting this workshop to help DJs and producers living here in China.

B6 will demonstrate the performance abilities of Live when used as a DJ tool.

Jackson will demonstrate some of the music production capabilities of Live, using a combination of Live’s unique session view, to quickly sketch out musical ideas, and the arrangement view to sequence a track. The tutorial will cover creating MIDI synth and drum tracks, using samples and loops, and adding effects.

After the workshop we will have our 2nd microlab party starting at 4:00pm when we will say farewell to jacksonblack who returns home to The States.
